Once again we are able to gather solid evidence on the benefits that can bloom when online gambling and betting is properly regulated and taxated. American firm Churchill Down recently announced the opening of 50 jobs for skilled workers in order to help them manage their online gambling activities. The wages for these people will be substantial, and the economic growth opportunity brought to the region is truly remarkable.

Churchill Down is a company based in Kentucky with outbounds in California and Atlanta, it offers online horse race betting, a niche that is not included in the tight US online gambling laws. Last month, the company obtained an online gambling license from Nevada in order to offer online poker and other casino games to their online customers, this has resulted in the possible creation of highly rewarding jobs in the region.

Churchill Down was actually given a $1 million tax incentive in order to hire new employees to manage its operations. The average wage for the new hires will be slightly above $168,480 per year, with an average hourly salary of $81 per hour on a 40-hour week agenda. Bob Evans, the company's CEO, made a statement saying that the mahority of the new hires will be IT focused in order to maintain the site's functionality at an optimal level, and he explained they would be “simply part of that effort and expands the technology team we already have based in Lexington, Ky., and Mountain View, Calif.” He also said that the project of hiring new employees will also be dependent on how the political landscape evolves in relation to online gambling at federal and state levels.

After Evans stated that the new jobs are expected to be based in California or Atlanta, the mayor of Luisville, KY, Greg Fischer, gave the company the tax incentive from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority in order to keep the jobs local. “They were just hoping to get these incentives that were just approved. So I would expect a favorable outcome,” he said.

We will keep you updated on the outcome of this event. It certainly sounds encouraging to see solid proof that online gambling promotes growth and offers jobs to people all around the world. This fact will hopefully contribute to the deliberation process that the American Federal Government is waiting to have in order to determine if online gambling can prove to be a benefit to society.
