New Slot Machine Project: 1980s Series
This week hosted the G2E expo in Las Vegas, which gathers la creme de la creme of the casino industry in order to find out what is going on around the world in terms of casino gaming, and other industry branches. An interesting piece of news released is that gaming developers are planning new slots aiming to portray the vibrant essence of the 1980s.
International Gaming Technology is leading this movement and they are eager to create a series of games that are 80s themed. The plans came about as the company received its licensing for Atari's 1981 Centipede game, and they said they are planning to adopt it and want to give it a more modern touch without losing the original idea of the game. A modern touch would mean better audiovisual effects and rewards that match the current economy, but it will not affect the nostalgic sense of seeing how gaming first started and how far from it we've come today.
They revealed small details, for example, players will win slot credits for each bug and then those credits can be redeemed for real cash. "We're figuring out how to deliver video games to players in a wagering environment, and this game is helping us figure out the best way to do it," said International Gaming Technology's game designer, Keith Hughes.
The news filled the industry with anticipation, since many people grew up playing Atari games, but besides that project, there are many more that will focus on the many diverse aspects of the 1980s. We cannot wait to see the slot machines with good 80s music in the background. The new games will be developed throughout the upcoming months, so by 2014 we should be able to see a wide repertoire of slot machines that will take us back to a wonderful era.
The new chief of the American Gaming Association (AGA), Geoff Freeman, shares the enthusiasm about the new slot machine series in the make and said: "I grew up playing Atari and Nintendo, and I want to believe my skill in these games has some effect on the outcome." We don't know whether that is true or not, but we do know that you can start building up some anticipation for what seems to be a promising online slot machine project. As always, we will keep you updated on the developments, and good lucj at the tables.
