Official news broke that the state of New Jersey will officially begin legal online gambling on November 26th, 2013. The beginning of legalized online gambling will have a five day trial period in which the authorities will make sure everything is working properly. This is a huge accomplishment, not only because New Jersey managed to deliver legal online gambling on the promised date, but because this will set the way for all the other states to be able to enable companies to offer the same type of services to their residents.

A statement by the Gaming Enforcement Division revealed that Atlantic City's twelve participating casinos are set to begin a "soft play" period on November 21st for invited guests only. This would happen after the five day trial period, and if all goes well the casinos will open their doors to all players in New Jersey to be able to gamble online.

The stipulations include that online gamblers accessing these websites are located within New Jersey's boundaries to be eligible to engage in legal online gambling. As of now, New Jersey is the third state in the United States to offer online gambling, joining Nevada and Delaware in this process. One of the main reasons behind the legalization of online gambling in New Jersey is to help the soraing economy and to bring new revenue to the struggling casinos.

Land casinos in Atlantic City were making $5.2 billion in revenue in 2006, in 2012 they only made $3 billion, and it is predicted that by the end of the year it could drop under $3 billion. A lot of jobs have been lost across the state already since people in nearby areas choose casinos closer to home to save money and the land casinos cannot afford to employ so many people if business is low. Even though there is some fear that online gambling will eliminate jobs at land casinos, there is also hope that this will open an entirely new industry sector that will bring many new jobs to the state.

American players are extremely excited to hear about legal online gambling in another state. The battle for legalization has been going since 2006, and it is only in 2013 that we are starting to hear positive news related to our industry. We will keep you updated on any developments, and if you are in New Jersey, you better get ready to begin online gambling soon.
