New Jersey and Delaware Not Ready to Launch Online Casinos
Lately, the news are covered with stories of how several US states are attempting to launch legalized online gambling. New Jersey stands as one of the highest bidders in the matter because it is home to Atlantic City, one of the largest and most popular land gambling destinations in the world. However, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) reported that many of the applications submitted were found lacking in several aspects.
The DGE asked some of the state's land based casinos to submit further information to their applications, currently on file, for online gaming licenses in the state. The Division did not spare the name details of the casinos, but we are aware that 12 casinos received a letter from the DGE to hear that their applications lacked sufficient information to be granted a license. The casinos can still hope to submit a successful online gaming license application since they were given a deadline for Friday, September 20th, in order to complete their applications and provide the extra information.
The main issues found in the applications are related to partnership contracts with online casino software providers, since the casinos and gaming officials are required to conduct thorough investigations to ensure the reliability of such operators. After all, a trustworthy online casino software provider is what makes the difference in any player's online casino experience.
The expected launch date for New Jersey online casinos is November 23rd of this year, but the DGE reported that this date has been jeopardized by the high amoung of incomplete applications received. Many industry experts agree that the launch date for November is very ambitious, and many have questioned whether it is realistic at all. The issues found in the applications have shown that the license process might be more time consuming than regulators had predicted due to the amount of detail required to process them.
Delaware is another state struggling to meet their launch date, set for October of this year. It seems like regulators over estimated the speed at which land casinos could fully prepare for an online casino venture. Players should not be surprised if launch dates for online casinos in the US get pushed back to 2014. On the brightside, it is extremely good to hear that operators are doing everything in their hands to be able to provide a satisfactory online casino experience to US players.
