Honesty is Not Dead: A Gambler Misplaces $300k

Keep reading to find out how a forgetful poker pro reminds us that the world is full of kind-hearted people.

Last week in Las Vegas, Nevada, an unidentified professional poker player, allegued to be 28 years old and extremely famous, forgot a bag with something rather important to him inside a taxi. The bag contained a major portion of his winnings, about $300,000 to be exact, and the poker pro arrived at his destination and forgot take the bag with him. The taxi took off and it was the next day when he realized something was missing, but to his surprise the money was already on its way back to him.

The taxi that the poker pro took was driven by Gerardo Gamboa, who told the news that he thoughts the bag was full of candy. When he was cleaning his vehicle he came across the bag and when he opened it he saw an outrageous amount of money in $100 bills inside of it. Mr. Gamboa contacted his cab company, and along with the local police, they managed to return the money to the poker pro. When asked about why he returned the money, Mr. Gamboa said: “My dignity is not for sale and that’s the way I am.”

As a reward for his honesty, the poker pro gave Mr. Gamboa a $10,000 tip, and the cab company gave him a $1,000 bonus for his honesty, along with a gift card to a Las Vegas steakhouse. Other taxi drivers in the area applauded Mr. Gamboa for his honest deeds and were glad people could see evidence that taxi drivers in Las Vegas are honest, hard-working people.

The news broke at a wonderful time, because as the holidays kick in, it is nice to be reminded of all the good in the world. We are glad Mr. Gamboa was rewarded for his honesty, even though he said he expected nothing in return because the money was never his. Happy holidays everyone!
