Global Gaming Awards 2014 Announced
The first ever Global Gaming Awards were held in the Titian Ballroom of the Venetian Palazzo Congress Center in Las Vegas on September 29. The awards bought together the entire gaming industry both online and land based. Operators and suppliers were nominated based on their achievements of the past year in 12 categories. A panel of 50 industry leaders voted to crown a winner in each category. The judging process was overseen by official voting adjudicator KPMG Gibraltar to ensure accuracy and transparency. The winners were announced during the industry’s biggest annual gathering G2E Vegas. Two CasinoDaily.com recommended online casinos were on the nominations shortlist for the Digital Operator of the Year. These were 32Red and Bet365. The winner, however, was 888.
Many of our online casinos are powered by the leading software provider Microgaming, which was awarded the Digital Product of the Year. It was in contention with nine other shortlisted companies that included Net Entertainment, Amaya Gaming and the online payments solution provider Skrill. The value of the award is greater when the competition is stiffer. A release from Microgaming stated that the company was recognised for its digital prowess, specifically for its Terminator 2 online slot which launched in June. This branded video slot attracted critical acclaim for its “action-packed player features and incredible representation of the iconic blockbuster film”.
Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, said that they were honored to take home the award, which was adjudicated by a panel of some of the biggest names in the gaming industry. He added, “We’ve had a busy year releasing some epic games to the industry, including our Terminator 2 online slot in June, followed by our Jurassic Park online slot in August.” Raatgever thanked everyone involved in the game development and dedicated this award to them.
Net Entertainment was the runner up in the Digital Product of the Year category. Net Entertainment also powers some CasinoDaily.com recommended online casinos like Kroon Casino. However, Net Entertainment emerged winner in Digital Gaming Innovation of the Year. Per Eriksson, President and CEO of Net Entertainment said that the company prides itself on innovation and it is an honor to be recognized for our work at the Global Gaming Awards. He added, “We strongly encourage innovation and frequently organize internal activities to enhance it and our dedication to creativity allows us to continue to drive the online casino market forward.” Another award for the online gaming industry was the Digital Industry Supplier of the Year. The winner was GTech and the runner-up was Playtech.
