When you activate the gamble game, you will be dealt five cards. The first card will be dealt face up and the other four cards will be dealt face down. When you win in single hand video poker games, the payout will at least equal to your bet. If you hit a higher ranked hand then the payout will be more. In the gamble game you get an average return of 100% at a maximum payout of 1 to 1. The best online video poker variants, like Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild, offer an average return of over 99% and with the possibility of winning much higher payouts. So it may make more sense to stake your payout in another video poker hand. Also factor in the fact that the video poker game is more challenging and exciting.

The strategy is somewhat different for multi hand online video poker games. You place identical bets for each hand. Some hands may win while other hands may lose. Usually the total payout from all hands will be less than the total amount bet. This gives a reason to opt for the gamble game. You activate the gamble game to try to recover the wagered amount. You may even lose whatever little you have won in the process. But if you are lucky enough to recover your initial wager then do not play the gamble game any further.
