In all other cases the spread between the first two cards is determined. For example, if the first two cards are 6 and 9, then you can fit 7 and 8 in between and the spread is 2. At this stage you can double the ante wager. If the third card lies in between then you are paid according to the payout table, otherwise you lose. The optimum strategy is to double only when the spread is 7 or more. The average return in Red Dog is also 97%.
