The Microgaming Online Tournament Interface
Microgaming is one software provider that regularly hosts multi-player tournaments at its online casinos like Spin Palace, Royal Vegas and 32Red. The tournaments are played on designated slot games. From the gaming perspective they are the same lot games on which players wager individually. But they have a special player interface that aids tournament play. The salient features of this interface are explained here.
Three columns on the left-hand side of the bottom toolbar provide the most important information. The left most column is the Win Box. It can be seen just below the alias that the player is using in tournament play. The number of coins that the player has won till now is displayed here. This final value in this field will determine the player’s position in the tournament. The next column is designated as Coins. The amount displayed here represents the chip balance available with the player. Once this value reaches zero the player will have to pay more and replenish the balance or stop playing. The final column is Play Time. Microgaming not only allots a fixed chip balance but also a specified time in which to complete the tournament. The Play Time indicates the amount of time left. Once the play time reaches zero the tournament session will automatically close, unless more time is bought.
Tournament players need to know where they stand as compared to the competition so that they can plan their strategy. Microgaming also provides some information in this respect. My Place displays the player’s current rank on the leader board and the amount he is winning. The names of the players immediately above and below him are also displayed. Top 5 displays the rank, names and balances of the top five players in the tournament. The player can judge how big is the gap in chip counts between him and the leader board topper. If you are interested in the complete leader board you can access it through the Show in Window link. The information displayed includes each player’s position, alias, coins and win box. Hundreds and sometimes even thousands of players participate in Microgaming online tournaments. Hence it will take a long time if the player has to scroll down several pages that the leader board has been split into. A "Where am I?" link on the first page itself takes the player directly to his entry.
